New York City Proposal Guide: Best Hotels

Manhattan

Whether you’re visiting New York City or you’re looking for a romantic staycation, there are many hotels in the city that are universally well loved and known.

The beauty of a hotel proposal is that you can make it as pure and simple or as romantic and extravagant as you like–in the privacy of your hotel suite before dinner or a grand romantic gesture in the middle of the hotel lobby. If you decide to stay the night in one of these hotels, be sure to call them ahead of time and ask them to help arrange something special for your proposal night like setting up your proposal for you, champagne on arrival, or romantic turndown services with candles, flowers and champagne.

If you’re planning a New York City proposal, especially as part of a romantic getaway to the city, read on for this installment of our New York City Proposal Guide for the best hotels to propose in New York City.

The Plaza is the New York hotel to see and be seen. Kings, queens, presidents, and celebrities have gathered and stayed at The Plaza. Their suites are lavish and (literally) fit for kings. Though staying at The Plaza can be on the pricey side, there are price-conscious options for your proposal, but you’ll have to get creative. The entrance of The Plaza boasts a spectacular fountain that’s perfect for proposing in front of; and on the second floor of this grand hotel destination, you’ll find the opulent Champagne Bar (one of the most beautiful bars in Manhattan).

The St. Regis Hotel is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan and is considered to be one of Manhattan’s most prestigious addresses. The world famous King Cole Bar is inside the St. Regis Hotel. For decades, The King Cole Bar has been delighting patrons including Salvador Dali, Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio, and John Lennon. If you stay the night at the hotel, be sure to try their Bloody Mary: the drink was created here in 1934 when bartender Fernand Petiot introduced the “Red Snapper,” later renamed the Bloody Mary.

We thought this one out for you: book a top floor suite. When you book your room, call ahead and ask for a bottle of champagne to be waiting for you on the balcony. Check into your suite and head outside–enjoy the breathtaking city view then get down on knee and pop the question with your Ritani engagement ring. After a celebratory toast, head downstairs to Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian’s restaurant The National (bonus points if you have family and friends waiting to join you for a celebration, and then tag us on Instagram @ritani).

The Standard

The Standard is one of our favorite places to stay and chill near The Highline. We love their hip vibes and quirky sense of humor. One of NYC’s swankiest hotels also has one of the city’s poshest bars–head up to the Top Of The Standard for a cocktail and dramatic views from one of the city’s most striking rooms.
Address: 848 Washington St, New York, NY 10014

For After The Proposal: The Rainbow Room at 30 Rock

Our last suggestion isn’t actually a hotel, but it’s so iconic we wanted to talk about it anyway: The Rainbow Room at 30 Rock. The iconic New York City landmark has world class dining set 65 stories above the Rockefeller Center where you can enjoy absolutely breathtaking views and really good food.
Address: 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 65th Floor New York, NY 10112 USA
