The East-West Setting is Back on the Map Courtesy of Zendaya

When Zendaya stepped out on the Golden Globes red carpet in early January, eyes were immediately glued to the starlet's dainty left hand. Perched on her ring finger was the most stunning oval diamond - estimated at around five carats - set horizontally featuring mixed metals. As expected, searches for east-west diamond engagement rings immediately skyrocketed.

East-west styles were introduced in the 15th century but gained popularity in the 1920s during the height of the art deco era. The experts at Ritani note that the east-west orientation makes the gemstone appear larger, particularly when accompanies by diamond halo accents.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joey King and supermodel Natalia Vodianova were also proposed to with east-west diamond engagement rings, although Zendaya's style power will certainly keep this trend on the rise for future brides-to-be.
